What Are The Best Times To Publish New Blog Posts?

Timing is not an aspect of a blog that everyone considers. I've never focused on blog timing, but some research reveals that not only the time of day, but the day of the week that you post can have an effect on readership. If you blog only once or twice a week some suggest Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Whether you post on those days or choose to be an every day poster, it seems as though early morning is the best time for increased readership and posting to social media.

This timing advice is not fail safe, particularly if you've already surveyed or researched your target readers and found out they follow a different time trend. However,if you haven't, you're probably like a lot of other bloggers, who just blog when they can, especially if they're just getting started. However, most blogs allow you to write in advance and schedule a post date and time.

Using Google Analytics to track your traffic, it's easy to get started. Once you've signed up [it's free]record the published time of each post. Using this data you can sort your visitors by the hour to see which days and hours rate the highest.

Make it a point to find out what your readers want more of and when they prefer to read online, you'll be better prepared to make your blogging successful.

Five Ideas To Help Create More Content for Your Blog

Everyone who blogs hits the wall every once in a while. With that said, now how can you bounce back with a renewed energy for posting?

First: Review every topic and subtopic that you've covered in the last three months. If you blog every day perhaps a month's review will be sufficient.

Second: Make a list of gaps that you find. For instance, have you just barely touched on a topic that deserves more coverage?

Third: Remember to talk to others about things in your field that really interest them. You may be surprised that something you take for granted is something that they would like to know more about.

Fourth: Expand your reading to related fields and what they are covering. This practiced regularly will broaden your knowledge base and bring new subjects to your attention.

Fifth: If you are a long copy blogger, think about writing occasional short posts. If you normally blog with short posts, consider sprinkling in a few longer ones. The variety may make your posts easier to produce and of more interest to your readers. Why? Not everyone is looking for in-depth on everything and those who are might grasp something new if you take the time to go long.

What you've just read is referred to in the industry as a listicle, which is just what you'd think. It's a summary of things that could each deserve their own article.

Trading In Your Blog Post Key Words for Long-Tail Search Terms for Better SEO

Even when you're in a hurry,it's worth spending time to choose the right key words for your blog posts. It is never enough to post news. Readers interested in your topic need to be able to find your blog posts.

I have written here before about long-tail keywords.[See September 21,2017.] If you are not familiar with this term, here's a simple way to understand it. Handcrafted furniture might be the overall topic of your blog, but you can attract more readers if in each blog post you contain some specific key search terms, not words, but longer descriptions.

For instance, if a specific blog post is about using sticks to craft chairs. For greater SEO or Search Engine Optimization, you'll want to use more than handcrafted furniture as your key search. You would want to use phrases, i.e. long-tail keywords, such as: making chairs from sticks and twigs, natural stick chairs, artisan stick furniture, etc. In this way, you will more likely attract crafters, who are drawn to your handcrafted furniture blog because they are interested in specifically crafting chairs from twigs or sticks.

Secondly, use multiple keywords. As mentioned above. By using a soft saturation of several terms, not only will you post have the likelihood of attracting more readers, it will also be more likely to attract those who are really interested in making stick furniture and might share your tips with their friends. If you actually have an online business that sells handcrafted furniture, including stick and twig furniture, this provides you with the possibility of buyers who are looking for not just handcrafted furniture, but specifically stick and twig chairs.
As an added bonuses your blog posts will read well, as opposed to being clogged with overuse of a particular search word or term in every blog post. And, Google search will like your posts better.

Google's New BULLETIN App Asks Local People to Post News For A Hyperlocal News Blog

Google has launched a pilot for a news app to “put a spotlight on inspiring stories that aren’t being told.” BULLETIN is currently available as a pilot in Nashville and Oakland. It is a public, shared blog that doesn’t require any expertise on content management systems, HTML, or even an app download.

BULLETIN will help users tell “hyperlocal” stories. Readers will also be able to “Like” bulletin posts as they would on Facebook. When a posting author’s name is clicked, the reader is taken to an author page with a list of everything written by that author.

Google new local news app allows local news posters to just use their phones to post updates on anything local. It is similar to Facebook's "Today" product, which emphasizes local outlets and is currently available in six cities.

Helpful Ways to Make Your Life Easier and More Productive

With 2018 looming large, now is the best time to add a few more tips for making your life easier and more productive. You could be buried alive in all of the information related to these topics. To keep this fact from having a negative impact on your time and your business, I suggest starting with a few great resources and branching out from there.

For tips to get you started check out:
Hubspot Marketing Resources
Infusionsoft Knowledge Center

Whether you're a serial entrepreneur trying to run several service start-ups or a creative type trying to expand online and offline venues for your products, it's important to stay focused. Segment the time you spend on creation and the time you spend on marketing. Segment the time you spend socializing and the time you need to put on your hermit hat.

If you're creative try to work with the time of day or evening that you feel most creative. If you're the entrepreneur wearing three hats, try setting your enterprises apart in two or three hour segments for each. Make a list of ways you can co-promote them. Trade some of your expertise with someone else who has expertise that you need.

Search for services or apps that can make your work life easier and your personal life more enjoyable and economical. Save more than you splurge whether you're talking about clothing, food or travel. After all, most people work to get ahead financially. If you find it really difficult to cut spending in one of these areas, look for ways to profit from your overspending. For instance, if you spend too much on food, consider blogging about food or building up a reputation as a food or restaurant critic.

Bottom line: Don't let 2018 roll over you. Establish some traction here at the starting line that keeps you upright and on track.

How to Draw More Readers To Your Blog

So...you're a blogger and have been mostly focused on coming up with new content. In fact, at first that was all that you cared about and rightfully so. Now, you may find yourself at the stage where you want your traffic to increase not at a snail's pace, but at least a little faster. By now you are probably writing with key words in mind. Not to insult your intelligence, but these are simply words that draw in the people that you want to read you blog. So the words you choose to incorporate into your blog content need to be words or phrases that the readers that you want would likely be searching online.

Whether your blog supports a service business or supports a business that sells products or perhaps it is just to share your knowledge with others. Whatever your particular scenario once you hone in on what your readers are seeking work these words and phrases into your blog, but don't stop there. Identify other blogs that might have an interest in your content. They are often willing to use your blog post as a guest blogger on their site. When they do they will offer a link back to your site. These links are just as important as your key words in reaching a larger and larger audience.

You can also increase your blog's readership by sending it out it newsletter form or a teaser with a link that can be emailed to a list of your readers. If you don't have a sign-up on your blog or social media you can compile a list based on your own customers or clients or upon a shared list if you can locate a non-competing business that finds your content relevant to their customers. You can even rent an email list. The purpose of sending out some of your content via email is that you have the opportunity to draw these email readers to your blog site, hopefully on a regular basis.

To find even more readers, write a key word press release. It's more work and should actually contain news. For instance you could decide to turn your blog posts into a short booklet or guide. Great write a press release and link the release to your blog where you offer the new booklet for sale. Perhaps, you decide to launch a survey on a topic related to your blog. Great, now write a press release about the survey and how to take it. If your blog supports products, write a press release on your newest product and how it is different from others of its kind.

Bottom line, great content is the first step to a great blog. Great outreach is the way to draw more readers to your great content.

How Does Your Content Marketing Measure Up?

The results of the new 2015 survey by The Content Marketing Institute found that only 23% of Business to Consumer marketers successfully track their return on investment in content marketing. This year's survey reached more than 5,000 marketers, representing 25 industries in 109 countries.

Fifty-one percent, an increase of 15% over last year, say that measuring the effectiveness of content is a challenge. Only 27% of B2C marketers have taken the time to put their strategy in writing, while 50% of those surveyed only have a verbal strategy.

Other findings from this year's survey revealed that 69% of those responding are creating more content than they did a year ago and 45% of B2C marketers now have a dedicated content marketing group in their organization. On average they are using seven social media platforms this year compared to only six last year. The use of blogs dropped from 72% last year to 67% this year.

Seventy-one percent use print or other offline promotion, and while it is the paid method that they use most frequently to promote and distribute content, only 46% say that it's effective. The majority, or 57%, say that search engine marketing is the most effective way to promote/distribute content.

The 2015 survey included new questions showing that the average number of paid advertising methods for promoting/distributing content is four and that 48% of those surveyed say that they publish new content daily or multiple times per week. The average number of content marketing initiatives being worked on at the time of the survey was 13.

Dotbizblog: Should Companies Spend Money to Show Small Children Emulating the Bad Behavior of Adults? really?

Okay, I no longer have small children, but I couldn't help but note one evening this week that two back to back TV commercials showed small tots setting very bad behavior examples. One showed a toddler repeatedly flushing a toilet including craming a stuffed toy into it. Another, I believe a Nationwide Insurance commercial, showed children acting in adult roles of impatience and rage. Really? isn't it bad enough that children often have to see their own parents acting out without having television reinforce this type of behavior?
